Closures, Late Starts, Early Dismissals
School closures, delays, and early dismissals due to weather, road conditions, or power outages are always possible in North Kitsap. Road conditions may vary throughout the district, so parents and guardians should use their own discretion when deciding whether to send their children to school or pick them up early if they feel that conditions in their specific area are not safe.
Student safety is our top priority, and we understand that many parents and guardians may be unable to leave work to meet their children in case of an early dismissal. Therefore, the district will only dismiss students early in extreme situations. It is essential that parents have a backup plan in the event of an early dismissal.
In the event of worsening weather conditions, the district may release and transport secondary students (grades 6-12) early so buses can pick up elementary students at the scheduled time. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure our students and staff's safety and well-being.
