The North Kitsap Teacher of the Year Committee is a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring teachers in the North Kitsap area who go above and beyond to educate and inspire their students.  We honor teachers from both the elementary and secondary level, as well as a Rookie who has been teaching fewer than five years but who is already making a great impact.

This year is particularly meaningful. With the blessing of the founding members of the committee, the board voted to rename the award in honor of Glen Robbins. Whether as a teacher, an administrator, a non-profit fundraising volunteer or a school board member, Glen dedicated his life to improving education and was truly beloved and respected by the North Kitsap community. We are honored to carry on his legacy with this award.

Our Elementary Teacher of the Year comes from Vinland Elementary, where she currently teaches first grade.  Her nominator has known her as a teacher for nine years, in both kindergarten and first grade, for multiple kids. He has been impressed with her from the first time his oldest son was in her kindergarten class.  Mrs. Lynch was extremely patient with the nominator’s son and helped him to gain a better attitude about school in general. She also went out of her way to help him with his fine motor skills therapy and helped him become a better writer and learner.

Mrs. Lynch says, “My favorite part of teaching is when a student has that ‘lightbulb moment.’  You can see that they understand a concept or they start reading words and they are so proud of themselves. I love to celebrate those moments and see the looks of accomplishment on their faces. There is nothing better!” Her nominator said Mrs. Lynch goes out of her way to help students in any way she can and always has a smile.  He also noted how impressed he is with her support of our community, especially small businesses.

Her principal says, “Allison is a kind individual that focuses on developing authentic relationships with her student and families while providing rigorous and relevant learning opportunities.  She is a valued member of her first grade PLC and the Vinland community.”

And that is why Allison Lynch is our Elementary Teacher of the Year!
