Hello Vinland Families!

I am so excited to be part of the Vinland community!  I began my career in education 28 years ago in Tumwater where I taught for 4 ½ years in grades 2, 3, 4 including a 3rd and 4th grade multi-age classroom.  I left Tumwater to start my family with my husband of 26 years- I have two amazing kids, John (23) and Megan (19).  When I returned to education I went overseas with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools and taught 4th grade at Osan Air Base in South Korea.  After returning to the states, I went to work for the Peninsula School District as an enrichment specialist and highly capable teacher.  During my 17-year tenure in the Peninsula School District, I also taught 4th and 5th grades, worked as an instructional coach and then the Assistant Director of Curriculum, and finally was the assistant principal at the school I formally taught at.  I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a minor in science from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and my Master’s in Educational Administration from Western Washington University.

It gives me great pride and pleasure to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Vinland Elementary. It is my goal as the leader of this school to work hard to improve the academic and social emotional needs of all the students of Vinland, facilitate growth in school improvement initiatives, and provide a learning environment where all students can achieve success.  I look forward to having a successful year!
